‘Lifeways of Gaelic Learned Families’ is the first in the series of lectures to be delivered as part of ‘Learning from the Landscape’ and will take place during Heritage Week 2018.

With special reference to Kilclooney Bardic School, Dr Liz Fitzpatrick, Professor of Archaeology at NUI Galway will explore traditions of bards and bardic schools. Such schools were conducted by professional learned families who served the households of Gaelic and English-Irish lords in law, medicine, history, poetry, music and high-level crafts.

‘Lifeways of Gaelic Learned Families’ will take place on Friday 24 August from 7 to 8pm at Milltown Community Centre, Milltown, Co Galway.
