Galway 2020 in association with Galway Public Libraries presents.
Following the guidance issued by the Government of Ireland on 12 March in relation to new measures to contain Covid-19, Galway 2020 made the decision to postpone this event.
While Galway 2020 are extremely disappointed to have made these decisions, public health is our number one priority and we must follow Government advice.
Ticket holders will be contacted directly. Rescheduled date will be advertised.
In this first West Words event, join leading novelist Colum McCann as he explores his intriguing new novel, Apeirogon with Síle Nic Chonaonaigh. The event will shed light on the common stories that span geographical borders.
Apeirogon follows the lives of Palestinian Bassam Aramin and Israeli Rami Elhanan, recounting how the violent loss of their daughters Abir and Smadar connects them, as they attempt to use their grief as a weapon for peace.
The 2018 TG4-commissioned documentary, ‘An Balla’, presented by Síle Nic Chonaonaigh, featured both Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan and was filmed on the border between Palestine and Israel. ‘An Balla’ will also be screened on the night immediately before the reading and conversation on Apeirogon.
Screening of ‘An Balla’ 7pm
