Changing States is an abstract rain-reactive mural by Shane O’Malley commissioned by Ríonach Ní Néill for Hope it Rains | Soineann nó Doineann as part of Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture. The direction, intensity and amount of rainfall falling on it determine which variation of the mural is visible. Its colours, geometric patterns, shape and size all change depending on whether it is a wet or dry day, reflecting the capricious and mercurial nature of Galway’s weather.
