Giant Steps tells the story of 9 pupils from Scoil Bhríde Primary School in Shantalla on the Westside of Galway City. In September 2019 film maker Des Kilbane commenced filming with the 6th class students of Scoil Bhríde Shantalla as they plotted their journey of finishing primary school and graduating to “big school”. The film set out to capture the highs and lows of this group of young people in their final year in primary school; and what a strange and challenging year it turned out to be.
