The December Satellite Meeting will tackle what is one of the most urgent topics of our time. It will explore relationships between artists, the arts ecosystem and the planet. Taking cognisance of the climate crisis and actions needed, the meeting will take place online.
Through a digital programme of speeches, working groups, and conversations with artists, including world-renowned artistic directors Marc Mac Lochlainn and Garry Hynes, the role of mitigation, adaptation and artistic influence will be explored, and actions identified for the performing arts ecosystem to be sustainable.
Everyone attending the Satellite Meeting will experience Galway with its powerful sense of place and the art it inspires. All will be invited to take part in a Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture project tracing the interplay between landscape, climate and culture.
The Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture artistic programme for IETM is of Galway, with its powerful sense of place and the art it inspires. An online programme of engagements with
artists, virtual tours, screenings, and performances, it explores relationships between climate and place, people and planet. The Galway 2020 Artistic Programme celebrates rain, sea, land art, Irish language, theatrical and musical performances that are authentically of Galway.
Join our Satellite Meeting conversation and help generate ideas for a performing arts ecology that’s fit for our future and the planet. Both IETM members and non-members are welcome to participate. Register here.
