Flames blazed in towns throughout the county as the Galway 2020 Opening Ceremony traveled ever closer to the city across the first week of February. Local themes and traditions appeared as never before in the week-long momentous event, which began with a turf cutting ceremony on Saint Brigid’s Day and concluded with a spectacular finale on 8 February in Galway City. (Unfortunately the Opening Ceremony was cancelled in light of severe national weather warnings)
The Fire Tour brought together an energetic cast from each town to take part in a unique, intimate performance on each consecutive night. Clifden Town Cast were up first at the Lighting Ceremony on Sunday, 2 February.
