On December 23 Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture youth music project Livefeed will broadcast a very special Christmas live music event from Nun’s Island Theatre featuring young musicians and songwriters from across Galway city and county.
Since January 2019 Livefeed has worked with young people in Gort, Kinvara, Headford, Tuam, Loughrea and Galway city to co-produce live music events in safe, alcohol-free environments. The project provides new opportunities for young people to perform and enjoy live music and empowers participants to pursue interests in songwriting, performance, audio production, sound engineering and music photography through workshops, mentorship and hands-on experience at events.
It has been a difficult year for live music and with uncertainty remaining over live events, Livefeed have decided to put on a special Christmas show for audiences to enjoy from home. The event will be professionally recorded and available to watch on the Livefeed YouTube channel at 8pm.
Tracy Bruen of the Livefeed Team says,”2020 has had a particular impact on young people in our community, with social interactions, after school clubs, sporting and artistic outlets all restricted. We connected with our young musicians for an online live stream in November which was a hugely fulfilling experience for all involved. We are delighted to collaborate with our Livefeed community once more to producing this series of live videos. Recorded on location in Nun’s Island, in accordance with current Covid restrictions, here are some of the finest young songwriters and original bands across Galway city and county”.
