The Night of Ideas is a worldwide initiative, spearheaded by the Institut Français, that celebrates the stream of ideas between countries, cultures, topics and generations.

The French Embassy in partnership with Irish cultural organisations is proud to present its third edition of the Night of Ideas in Ireland on Thursday, 30 January 2020. Revolving around the theme “Being Alive”, events include film screenings, special guests and debates questioning the ecological balances and the relation of man to the world in a global context of biodiversity loss as a result of climate change.

Pálás cinema in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland, Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture, and the Institut français, presents a screening of the French documentary ‘Tomorrow’ (Demain), directed by Ciryl Dion and Mélanie Laurent, who travelled the world to investigate concrete solutions to environmental and social challenges.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion on the theme “Being alive: exploring the ecological balances and the relation of man to the world, in a global context of biodiversity loss as a result of climate change” with special guests: Keelin Moncrieff, social media influencer on sustainability; Brendan Smith EPE Engagement Officer, Insight Center for Data Analytics NUI Galway; Pauline O’Reilly, Green Party Councillor for Galway City West; Shane Mooney, Engineer, Environmental Consultant and Climate Ambassador.
