This day-long celebration of the Sean-Nós tradition by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí na Gaillimhe will bring the Latin Quarter and the Claddagh area, in the heart of Galway City, to life.
Sean-Nós, meaning ‘old style’, encompasses the ancient form of unaccompanied singing that goes back hundreds of years and remains a very vibrant core part of our communities. Everyone can experience this unique form of song and dance performed on an open stage on Mainguard Street. There will be additional opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in the tradition by participating in free workshops on the day.
In the evening, Sean-Nós song and dance practitioners will present the best of the music tradition at a lively finale concert.
Finally, Sean-Nós faoi Bhláth will bring its very own pop-up Gaeltacht to the city, where the public can hear, learn and speak the Irish language.
All details will be available on the Comhaltas Contae na Gaillimhe website.
