Following the guidance issued by the Government of Ireland on 12 March in relation to new measures to contain Covid-19, Shot by the Sea and Galway 2020 made the decision to postpone this event.
While we are extremely disappointed to have made these decisions, public health is our number one priority and we must follow Government advice.
Rescheduled date will be advertised.
In 2019 a wild, fun and challenging film project called ‘Shot by the Sea’ was developed under the first round of Small Towns Big Ideas. Celebrating coastal culture and identity the project engaged with filmmakers across Galway and beyond. Such was the success of the project and its Gala Screening event that the project is back in 2020 bigger and better.
During the months of March and April everyone was invited to make a short film no longer than 5 minutes that was shot by the sea.
On 30 April, a wide range of the films will be screened at a 1-day film festival in Salthill.
This day-long event will include a special screening for schools, the best of the Galway, Irish and International submissions, and will culminate in our fun filled red carpet Gala Screening and Awards Ceremony where the winners will be announced.
