A New Film Challenge… Shot by the Sea

28.02.2019

Galway 2020’s Small Towns Big Ideas’ project, in association with The Village Salthill, Shot by the Sea will host four workshops to support all filmmakers who are working on films for the project throughout the month of March.

Shot by the Sea is a film challenge, the screening of which will take place in Salthill in April. Participants are tasked with creating 5-minute short films on the Galway Atlantic Coast during the month of March. The challenge is to use the beautiful coastline locations in new ways and new angles to tell exciting new stories.

The project, supported by The Village Salthill, invited new and experienced film makers to make a short film (Animation, Drama or Documentary) back in October. Teams and individuals were invited to come together from the local, regional and international community, to share resources and make exciting short films throughout March.

The workshops, which will be held at Galway Technical Institute (GTI) throughout March, will offer the film makers support to help them complete their films.

The workshops include;

Making a short film; how to find your story and  develop it into a format for film.

Drop in workshops; get advice and help from the Shot by the Sea team.

Editing; experienced editors will help filmmakers to look through their footage, assemble and ensure they have everything.

Editing, Completing and Delivering your Film will focus on completing the film, the final edit, the polish, maybe some music and getting the files ready for delivery.

On the 18 April 2019, films submitted will be screened during the day at a Salthill venue. In the evening, a gala event and award ceremony will be hosted where selected movies will be screened. All films will be available online after the event.
