Be Part of Galway’s Growing Youth Music Scene
28.03.2019If you’re interested in music, and aged between 13 and 18, Galway 2020 project Livefeed is offering a great opportunity to take your interest to the next level.
The project, which invites young people interested in music to join a series of workshops and events throughout Galway City and County, will host its next event on Saturday 30 March in The Zone Youth Cafe, Gort.
Livefeed aims to grow a culture of youth music in Galway City and County and to empower young people to pursue their interest in music – from music performance, event production, audio and video production to music promotion, journalism and photography.
The project will provide new opportunities for young people to enjoy live music in youth friendly environments, while meeting like-minded people and being guided by a team who have experience in this area.
In each county location, the Livefeed team will meet with local young people interested in music, run a workshop based on this consultation, and work with participating young people to organise a youth music event in their area.
In between these county workshops, there will be regular Livefeed workshops and open-mic events in Galway City, which will connect the young musicians involved in the project from both city and county and create a core Livefeed Youth Crew.
Livefeed will be delivered by the core team of Tracy Bruen, Eoin Dolan and David Boland. As a team, they combine skills and experience in various aspects of music and event production, digital strategy and engaging with young people. They have previously worked together on the development of Sos, a series of all ages music events in Nun’s Island Theatre and Citóg Records, an artist-led record label and collective.
The event takes place on Saturday 30 March at 2pm in The Zone Youth Cafe, Gort.
