Hosting the European Capital of Culture Network meeting in Galway was one of the highlights of 2019 so far for Galway 2020.

We hosted over 40 delegates from throughout Europe, showcasing the amazing landscape of county Galway, our culture and of course, our people.

Over the two days, we had the opportunity to share information and learn from our friends from other European Capitals of Culture.

The trip included several talks hosted by Galway 2020, where delegates learned about our preparations for our year as European Capital of Culture. The visit offered lots of opportunity to learn from our European counterparts and to create new contacts internationally.

Throughout the trip, delegates had the opportunity to visit Connemara, to take in the wonderful landscape, sights and experience some traditional Irish music and dance at Teach an Phiarsaigh, Rosmuc, followed by a trip to Lough Inagh.

They also had the opportunity to get a taste of the community projects that are being undertaken county-wide by visiting The Headford Lace Project team, which discussed its Small Towns Big Ideas project LACE MATRIX.
