Galway 2020 hosts The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge


Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture is delighted, today, to host The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge while in Galway as part of their official visit to Ireland.  Galway 2020 invited Their Royal Highnesses to a special showcase of some of the organisations and events which form part of the year-long cultural programme.  The programme which will unfold throughout the year comprises over 1,900 events across over 150 projects with local, national, European and International artists and cultural organisations.


Galway 2020 CEO, Patricia Philbin said;

“Galway 2020 is honoured to have the opportunity to showcase to Their Royal Highnesses, just some of the amazing projects and organisations delivering our ambitious programme across the year.  As European Capital of Culture, we are extremely proud of our programme, built on the themes of language, landscape and migration which celebrates and incorporates all aspects of Irish and European culture.”


The Galway 2020 programme celebrates every aspect of culture from music, theatre, literature, visual arts, dance, film, architecture, heritage, sport, food.  As part of today’s event, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet with the following organisations/projects from the Galway 2020 programme:
