Galway 2020 welcomes continued support from Galway City Council


Galway 2020, European Capital of Culture yesterday evening welcomed the continued support from Galway City Council as preparations for and the delivery of the project continue at pace.

CEO of Galway 2020, Patricia Philbin along with Creative Director, Helen Marriage presented an update to members of Galway City Council at a public meeting yesterday, Monday 24 June.  Galway 2020 welcomed the opportunity to share details of the extraordinary projects, artists and moments that will form part of Galway 2020.  The great work and progress that has been achieved so far and what will deliver a transformative year for the city and county were also presented.

CEO of Galway 2020, Patricia Philbin said “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Galway City Council for their continued support.  It was great to have the opportunity to update the newly elected council which includes some new faces.  Galway will be the cultural capital of Europe next year and it is our ambition to show Ireland, Europe and the World exactly what Galway has to offer.”

The update to Galway City Council comes during an exciting week for Galway 2020 who will welcome a delegation from European Capital of Culture partner, Rijeka 2020.  As part of the visit a Statehood Day celebration will be held, marking a special and unique occasion for Galway, celebrating Rijeka and Galway’s cultural connection in 2020.
