Just one of the projects we will be collaborating on is Small Towns Big Ideas, and a similar project in Rijeka, ’27 Neighbourhoods’, which is centred around developing community skills and inter-community cultural exchanges.

To mark our collaborations, last week, we welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia H.E. Mr Ivan Mašina to discuss our exciting future partnerships with Rijeka 2020.

Both Rijeka and Galway have many similarities – in terms of size, location, population, language and culture. Located on the West Coast of Croatia, Rijeka, the ‘city of music’ is known for its bohemian atmosphere, its rich culture and its abundance of festivals.

Through our similarities…and our differences, we hope to build strong ties with this beautiful city in the coming months, creating more cultural opportunities for the people of Galway City and County, Rijeka and beyond.
