For Galway 2020, Waterford City and County Council partners with The Walls Project to explore and capture the potential of mural arts as a tool for community engagement.
For Galway 2020, the initiative sees the co-creation of two original large outdoor mural artworks in Co. Galway, with three local community groups working with Magdalena Karol, an Irish-based Polish Street Artist and illustrator. Community groups include Brampton Care Home in Oranmore, Aras Chois Fharraige Nursing Home, An Spidéal and the Community Services Programme in Inisbofin.
This is done through the facilitation of thematic workshops with the community, based on local language, landscape and migration.
Murals for Communities is a Creative Europe initiative, co-funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.
