Limerick City and County Council in association with award winning Lumen Street Theatre present Samhain, Limerick’s Halloween Festival in the heart of Limerick.

This boutique festival of story, folklore and craft, celebrates local cultural heritage and Samhain traditions through talks, workshops, fireside readings and creative craft making for young and old in Limerick’s Medieval Quarter.

The highlight of this festival is an enchanting lantern parade, retelling the Limerick folktale of The Bishop’s Lady, who each year rises once again to roam the streets of Limerick City, haunting all who gather before her.

The result of an extensive community outreach programme, a parade of lantern carrying performers invite audiences to walk with the Bishops Lady as she meanders her way through cobbled streets under the watchful eye of King John’s Castle.

Galway Community Circus will participate in this year’s event as guest artists and the Lantern Samhain Parade will experiment with an extended parade route finishing with a performance in Arthur’s Quay Park. This year, a river element will also be developed in collaboration with the Ilen Boat Project
