Woodford (An Ghráig), which translates to ‘the village’ is based in the south-east of Galway. Its full Irish Name, ‘Graig na Muilte Iarainn’ (The Village of the Iron Mills) comes from its iron-making history, which has recently been revived with the Sliabh Aughty Furnace Festival, one of our Small Towns Big Ideas-funded projects.
